The Big Eye seeks to cater to the needs of readers both in Jamaica as well as the United Kingdom (UK); offering the public news and perspectives on controversial issues in a way that is both daring and never before experienced.

Objective

To mirror the success the newspaper has received in the UK, by expanding its distribution, firstly to the Jamaican market, then to other Caribbean countries and the USA.

About THE BIG EYE

The Big Eye is a UK-based newspaper, serving the needs of the Black communities in the UK.  Since its inception, over two years ago, The Big Eye has witnessed overwhelming success and is to date, Britain’s fastest growing Black newspaper and the only FREE nationally distributed Black newspaper.  We take much pride in our success, particularly because we have been able to accomplish in two short years what many of our competitors have yet to accomplish in the many years since their establishment.  The Big Eye is now the leading Black- oriented newspaper in the UK, giving a voice to the Black community, while being a prominent figure in the eyes of others.  The paper is nationally distributed, reaching every corner of the British Black community as well as other visible minority communities.  Such wide-distribution is reflective of the paper’s demand around the country.  Simply put, it is known and loved by everyone in the Black community in the UK, and we take immeasurable pride in this.

It offers mostly Jamaican, Caribbean, Black British and African news, yet The Big Eye is enjoyed by people of all races and of all different walks of life as is expressed on many occasions in our demands to distribute in mainly white populated towns.

What separates The Big Eye from other newspapers is our ability to cater to each and every reader.  We live and stand by our motto”YOUR VIEWS OUR  NEWS” and our philosophy “we don’t choose our target audience, our target audience choose us”.  Therefore, our newspaper seeks to appeal to as many people as possible, despite gender, age, cultural history, even readers with different religious beliefs, as is evident with our In The Spirit and Rastaman Vibe-Brations articles.  Hence, we do not only offer our readers controversial issues, entertainment, and intriguing columns, but also offer any form of news that is of interest to them.  We have even made the newspaper in such a way that it can appeal to both the corporate businessperson, as well as someone of a lesser socio-economic status (uptown & downtown).  Also, think about having a newspaper that offers every aspect of news in one single package, rather than having to buy three or four newspapers to satisfy a reader’s needs.

REASONS TO ADVERTISE IN THE BIG EYE

More importantly, think about a newspaper that dominates two markets at once, the UK market, as well as the Jamaican market.  Now that being said, think about the marketing potential and benefits that one can get from The Big Eye, two markets for the price of one.  When a client advertises with us they will not only be given advertisement space in the Jamaican edition of the newspaper, but in the UK edition as well.  Consequently your company’s name, product and service will be seen by the Jamaican public, but also the UK public.  Even though both editions of the newspaper are physically separate from each other, they are both still treated as one newspaper.  Therefore, you pay the cost for one market and get the benefits of two.  Additional, we offer greater package benefits where our clients can, not only be offered the benefits of two markets for the price of one, but also advertise on The Big Eye website, for a smaller than usual extra cost.  Now, we can guarantee that none of our other competitors can offer what we are offering.

To give a more elaborate description on the physical features of the newspaper; there are thirty-two pages that make up the entire newspaper.  There are the typical sections that make up most newspapers such as sports, entertainment, poetry, international news, fashion, and artist interviews.  Also sections that may not be included in other newspapers such as Travel Shop, which offers information on travel that a travel agency would also provide (best places to visit depending on occasion, cheapest air fare packages, etc.); Lyrics of the Month, which highlights and features the lyrics for three songs; Yuh Too Mix Up, Dancehall Seh Seh Corner, and Laugh Til Yu Fall for entertainment purposes; Financial Eye, which offers financial advice.  We have even dedicated a section solely for advertisements, although ads can be in any section of the newspaper.  Another wonderful and unique feature about The Big Eye is that it is interactive, as we have dedicated a section of the newspaper that allows readers to send in pictures of their babies, for The Big Eye’s Cute Baby of the Year Competition, or women, between a specified age group, send in pictures of themselves, for The Big Eye’s Search for Jamaica’s Most Beautiful Woman and The Big Eye’s Search for UK’s Most Beautiful Black Woman competition.  We are never bound by any limitations as we have several columnists who contribute their individualities and intriguing views on issues that may either be too controversial to be discussed, or may simply be overshadowed or overlooked, yet would still be of interest to a reader.  The Big Eye is never afraid to break new grounds, and try what others are too afraid to, always willing to make the impossible possible.

Indeed it can be seen and said that The Big Eye is the best source for news, and advertisement benefits.  Hence, it is unquestionable why we have been experiencing so much success nationally and  internationally.  Still in case you may ask how, simply…we dared to be different.
